We'd like to say a huge "welcome" to Ultra Runner Lucja Leonard who joins the team from all the way over in Edinburgh, Scotland. In conjunction with our friends at Live On The Edge and Supacore UK, we've asked her a few questions about her inspiring journey.
Name: Lucja Leonard
Location: I am a Dutch-Australian living in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Tell us a bit about yourself – what sports do you play and how long have you been doing it for?
I am an ultra runner and have been doing this since 2013.
What’s your greatest or favourite (or both) sporting achievement?
That’s a hard one! My biggest sporting achievement was running the entire length of The Netherlands, 500k over 5 days, wearing only pink (R)underwear and raising £8k for Pink Ribbon Foundation (breast cancer), I did this with my friend Marina and to date it was the toughest physical endeavour I have undertaken, and made even tougher due to the massive amounts of organisation and preparation that had to be done to be organised enough to do this and then the sheer physical and mental strength it took to actually complete it was astronomical.
What do you love about what you do?
I love the adventure and the challenge, the human body is capable of so much more than we give it credit for, we just need to go out there and give it a try and surprise ourselves.
What keeps you motivated to keep active and continue playing your sport?
I love how it makes me feel and I love the camaraderie of these adventures so that keeps me motivated to keep going.
What would you tell someone who was looking to achieve what you have, or what’s the best piece of advice that someone has ever given you that’s helped you to get to where you are today?
Quite simply is to just go out there and try it, don’t be put off by anything, you are so capable just go and find out exactly how capable you really are!
Why did you want to be a part of Team Supacore?
Recovery is such an important part of what I do as I put my body under so much stress and pressure that the technology behind Supacore really interested me, plus the kit looks good which is also important to me.
What’s your current favourite Supacore product and why?
I love my Training Compression Leggings as I just live in them after a long race, I wear them to bed and then as much as possible to reduce the effects of the ultra distances I have run. I also love to wear them on flights as I find the compression really helps for this and they are so comfy to do anything in.
Where can people find you if they want to learn more?
