We have trialled the Coretech shorts with two members of the squad and have had very positive results

The Coretech technology with its waistband and high compression are the main reasons why I prefer to use the shorts with the squad. Most of the junior squad train in the shorts and we have had good feedback on the prevention of lumbopelvic issues this season. It’s the best around

About Pregnancy Support Shorts & Leggings for Pelvic Girdle Pain
Pelvic girdle pain (PGP), symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD), lower back pain and sciatica are common in pregnancy. Supacore's research summary notes that around 20-25% of pregnant women have pelvic girdle pain serious enough to need medical care, and it most often starts between 14 and 30 weeks. Our prenatal compression range is designed to support you through it.
The Emma Pregnancy Support Shorts and Jenny Pregnancy Support Leggings were designed by Dr Carolyn Taylor, an Australian physiotherapist and expert in pelvic instability during pregnancy. Both use patented CORETECH® body mapping to copy the body's own core stability system, giving targeted compression through the pelvis and core. It's the support of a sacroiliac (SI) belt built into a seamless garment you can wear under your clothes. A soft flex zone stretches over your bump and adapts as your baby grows.
Emma shorts target pelvic, hip and lower back pain and have anti-chafing technology for warmer months. Jenny leggings add graduated compression down the legs to ease swelling in the legs and ankles and help with varicose veins. Our copper-infused graduated compression socks are a lighter option for tired, swollen lower legs.
Supacore pregnancy styles are a Class I medical device registered with the TGA (ARTG 372671), so you may be able to claim a health fund rebate. Need a second pair as you grow? Frequently asked questions
Can compression shorts help pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy?
Yes. External pelvic support from an SI belt or a pregnancy compression garment is one of the options used to stabilise the pelvis and reduce pregnancy-related pelvic pain, alongside physiotherapy, exercise and hydrotherapy. Supacore's Emma shorts and Jenny leggings build that pelvic support into a seamless garment using patented CORETECH® compression through the pelvis and core.
When should I start wearing pregnancy support shorts?
Many women start wearing pregnancy support wear around the end of the first trimester (12-16 weeks). You can start earlier if you have lower back pain, pelvic instability or pre-existing pelvic girdle pain. Pelvic girdle pain most often begins between 14 and 30 weeks.
Should I choose Emma shorts or Jenny leggings?
Choose Emma shorts (A$149) if your main problem is pelvic, hip, groin or lower back pain, especially in warm weather, because they have anti-chafing technology. Choose Jenny leggings (A$199) if you also have leg swelling, heaviness or varicose veins, because they add graduated compression down the legs.
What size pregnancy shorts should I buy?
Supacore recommends sizing down when you're pregnant, because the pregnancy styles are designed to grow with you and your baby. Use the size guide with your current weight and trimester. Some women need two sizes to last the whole pregnancy, and Supacore will discount a second pair.
How should I wear Emma pregnancy support shorts?
Wear Emma shorts under your clothing, over your underwear, rather than as outerwear. Pull them up to the thighs and then roll them up over your tummy, rather than pulling them up by the waistband.
Who designed Supacore's pregnancy range?
The Emma shorts and Jenny leggings were designed by Dr Carolyn Taylor, an Australian physiotherapist (PhD) and expert in pelvic instability during pregnancy. She also co-created the patented CORETECH® waistband.
Can I claim pregnancy support shorts on my health fund?
You may be able to. Supacore pregnancy garments are a Class I medical device registered with the TGA (ARTG 372671), and members of eligible health funds may claim under Extras cover that includes medical compression garments. Ask your physio, obstetrician or GP to complete Supacore's Health Fund Rebate Form.
