About Lipoedema (Lipedema) Compression Leggings
Lipoedema (spelt lipedema in the US) is a chronic condition involving abnormal fat distribution, usually in the hips, thighs and legs. It often brings heaviness, tenderness, easy bruising and swelling that worsens through the day. Supacore's lipoedema compression leggings are designed to make everyday movement more comfortable.
Most compression focuses on the lower leg. Supacore CORETECH® leggings deliver 25+ mmHg of graduated, body-mapped compression across the abdomen, hips, thighs and lower legs, the areas most commonly affected. That helps reduce the feeling of heaviness and fatigue, gives structured support to tender tissue and supports venous return. The patented CORETECH® waistband adds something standard stockings don't: pelvic and lower-back stability. That matters because extra load in the legs changes how your pelvis, hips and back work, and your muscles end up overworking.
The leggings are circular-knitted with no restrictive seams, so they're breathable, lightweight and suitable for long wear on sensitive tissue. Compression doesn't remove lipoedema fat, but worn consistently it can significantly improve comfort, mobility and day-to-day function.
They're designed for women with lipoedema stages 1-3 and those wearing compression as part of a lipoedema management plan. Supacore CORETECH® garments are Class I medical devices registered with the TGA, so you may be eligible for a private health fund rebate, and NDIS funding is considered case by case. Do compression leggings help lipoedema?
Compression doesn't remove lipoedema fat, but worn consistently it can significantly improve comfort, mobility and day-to-day function. Is lipedema the same as lipoedema?
Yes. They're two spellings of the same condition: lipoedema is the Australian and British spelling, and lipedema is the American spelling. Supacore's leggings are designed for women with lipoedema stages 1-3.
What compression level are Supacore lipoedema leggings?
Supacore's lipoedema leggings provide 25+ mmHg of graduated, medical-grade compression. They are intentionally firm, so roll them on like stockings and don't pull them up by the waistband.
How are Supacore leggings different from standard lipoedema compression?
Standard compression often focuses on the lower leg. Supacore's body-mapped compression zones extend to the abdomen, hips and thighs, and the patented CORETECH® waistband adds pelvic and lower-back stability. They're also circular-knitted with no restrictive seams for comfort on sensitive tissue.
Can I claim lipoedema leggings on my health fund or the NDIS?
Supacore lists lipoedema among the conditions its CORETECH® garments support for health fund claims, and members of funds such as Medibank, Bupa, HCF, nib and HBF may claim under Extras cover that includes medical compression garments. NDIS eligibility is assessed case by case; email NDIS@supacore.com for an invoice.
What if they don't fit?
Sizing is by height and weight using the Women's CORETECH® Size Guide. If the size is wrong, Supacore exchanges it free within 30 days, and change-of-mind refunds are available within 30 days for unworn garments with tags attached.
