About Men's Osteitis Pubis & Groin Injury Compression Shorts
Osteitis pubis (OP), groin strain and recurring hamstring injuries are often linked to an unstable pelvis. When core stability is poor, the groin (adductor) and hamstring muscles work as secondary stabilisers, become overloaded and are more easily injured. A sacroiliac (SI) belt improves core stability and reduces groin pain, but it's impractical to wear in training or a match.
Supacore was built to solve that. The patented CORETECH® waistband was co-created by physiotherapist Dr Carolyn Taylor (PhD), one of Australia's top experts in pelvic instability in athletes. It puts the compression of an SI belt into seamless compression shorts and leggings you can wear under your kit for rehab, training and competition. Body-mapped medical-grade compression and Ribtech® micro-massaging ribbing support your muscles as you move.
In CORETECH® trials with physiotherapists and strength and conditioning coaches, athletes with combined hip, groin and hamstring injuries who were typically out for six months returned in two to three months on average. The technology was trialled over seven years with sports physios and elite clubs, including Sydney Swans, Queens Park Rangers, Melbourne Storm and Arsenal FC.
Start with the Lionel shorts for groin and OP support, step up to Lionel "Xtra" for a reinforced waistband that won't roll, or choose David leggings to cover the hamstrings as well. CORETECH® is a Class I medical device registered with the TGA (ARTG 372670), so health fund rebates may apply. Free shipping from A$199, ships worldwide, with 30-day free returns and free size exchanges. Shopping for women? See Women's Groin / Osteitis Pubis.

Frequently asked questions
Do compression shorts help osteitis pubis?
Pelvic compression is used to stabilise the pelvis and reduce groin pain in osteitis pubis, and Supacore's CORETECH® shorts build SI-belt-style compression into a short you can play in. Supacore's research summaries cite Sawle, Freeman & Marsden (2016), where most athletes with chronic OP, SIJ or groin pain could apply more adduction force with less pain wearing pelvic-support compression shorts, and Otten et al. (2019) on compression shorts for footballers with groin pain.
How long does osteitis pubis take to recover with Supacore?
In Supacore's CORETECH® trials with physiotherapists and strength and conditioning coaches, athletes with combined hip, groin and hamstring injuries who were typically out for six months returned in two to three months on average. Wear the shorts through all rehabilitation, training and competition, alongside your physio's program.
Can I wear Supacore shorts in matches?
Yes. CORETECH® shorts and leggings are seamless and designed to be worn under any uniform or training kit in matches and training. They're worn by professional athletes in the English Premier League, AFL and NRL.
Should I get shorts or leggings for a groin or hamstring injury?
Choose Lionel shorts if your main problem is groin, hip or osteitis pubis pain. Choose David leggings if you also have a hamstring problem or want full-length compression for recovery, because they add body-mapped compression down the legs.
What's the difference between Lionel and Lionel "Xtra"?
Lionel "Xtra" (A$169) is built on the bestselling Lionel short but adds a reinforced waistband that stops rollover and gives extra support front and back. The standard Lionel is A$149, with or without a pocket.
How do I size men's CORETECH® shorts?
Use the Men's CORETECH® Size Guide. The shorts should be a neat, tight fit without restricting circulation, so they'll feel firmer than normal compression. If the size is wrong, Supacore exchanges it free within 30 days for unworn garments with tags.
Can I claim Supacore on my health fund for a sports injury?
Many Australian private health insurers pay a rebate on the CORETECH® range because it's a compression medical device registered with the TGA (ARTG 372670). Check whether your fund covers medical compression garments, aids and appliances or orthoses, and use Supacore's Health Fund Rebate Form.
